In regard to surface area and measuring plots of land, Thailand has its own units of measurement.
During visits to villas or plots of land, you will often hear words like "Rai" or "Wah Talang".
Below are some conversions that will allow you to better understand.


Thai measurements in the metric system

  • - 1 Wah = 2 m
  • - 1 Wah Talang = 4 m2
  • - 1 Rai = 1600 m2
  • - 1 Rai = Wah 400 Talang
  • - 1 Rai = 0,40 acre (environ)
  • - 1 Rai = 0,16 hectare
  • - 1 Ngan = 100 Talang Wah

The metric system in Thai measurements

  • 1 m = 0.5 Wah
  • 1 m2 = 0.25 Wah Talang
  • 1 acre = approximately 2.53 Rai
  • 1 hectare = approximately 6.25 Rai
